Sample Itinerary
Day 1: Depart U.S.A.
Our spiritual journey begins as we depart on our transatlantic flight to Paris. Meals and drinks will be served aloft.
Day 2: Arrive Paris / Lisieux
Upon arrival in Paris this morning we will be met by our local tour manager who will be with us throughout our pilgrimage. Board our motor coach and drive from Paris to Lisieux, the home of St. Theresa the “Little Flower of Jesus”. Visit the home where she lived as a child and the Carmel Convent where she was a nun. After Mass, visit the Basilica of St. Theresa, its Crypt, and the 13th century Gothic Cathedral of St. Peter. Overnight in Lisieux.
Day 3: Lisieux / Mont-Saint-Michel
After Mass depart Lisieux and drive along the Normandy coast drive to Bayeux, the first town to be liberated by the Allies in 1944. Continue to St. Laurent to visit the National Cemetery and Omaha Beach, one of the sites where the Allies came ashore on D-Day. Continue our drive on to Mont-Saint-Michel, the principal shrine of the Archangel Michael and one of the medieval wonders of Europe.
Day 4: Mont-Saint-Michel
Today we will enjoy a complete visit of Mont-Saint-Michel including the Grande Rue, St. Aubert’s Chapel, and the Benedictine Abbey which is perched atop the rock island. Celebrate Mass in the Romanesque Church of St. Michael. The remainder of the day will be free to explore on our own.
Day 5: Mont St. Michel / Orleans
Following breakfast we will depart Mont-Saint-Michel and drive through the scenic Loire Valley to Chartres, home to what most believe to be the greatest Gothic cathedral in Europe. The stained glass windows of this Cathedral are world-renowned. Over 150 windows illustrate biblical stories and daily life in the 13th century. After Mass in Chartres, we will continue on to Orleans where Joan of Arc led French troops to victory over the English. Visit the old Cathedral of St. Croix and then check in at our local hotel.
Day 6: Orleans / Lyon
Drive from Orleans to Nevers where we will visit the Convent of St. Guillard to view the incorrupt body of St. Bernadette. Here the Saint spent her life in prayer and solitude following the apparitions of the Blessed Mother to her in Lourdes. Proceed to Paray-le-Monial where Our Lord appeared to St. Margaret Mary to promote devotions through His Most Sacred Heart. Following Mass at the Visitation Chapel and a visit to the Basilica to see the tomb of Blessed Claude de la Colombiere, we will continue to nearby Lyon for overnight.
Day 7: Lyon / Toulouse / Lourdes
After breakfast drive to Ars for Mass at the Altar of St. John Vianney, the Patron Saint of Parish Priests. Then return to Lyon and board our train to Toulouse. Upon arrival in Toulouse we will be met by our waiting motor coach and drive to Lourdes, one of the great pilgrimage shrines in the world. It was here in Lourdes where Our Lady appeared to St. Bernadette in 1858 proclaiming herself the “Immaculate Conception”.
Day 8: Lourdes
Today we will have all day to experience the special atmosphere of this beautiful town. Attend Mass at the Grotto of Massabielle, the site where the Virgin appeared 18 times. Also visit the Basilica of Pius X (the world’s largest underground church), see the house where Bernadette lived during the Apparitions, and visit several of the sites where the miraculous cures have taken place. This evening we will participate in the Blessed Sacrament Procession and the Candlelight Procession.
Day 9: Lourdes / Paris
Depart Lourdes this morning by train and return to Paris. Upon arrival in Paris this afternoon we will be met at the train station and then transfer to our hotel. The remainder of the day will be free to explore the “City of Lights” on our own.
Day 10: Paris
Following breakfast we will proceed to the Chapel of the Miraculous Medal at Rue de Bac for Mass. It was here where Our Lady appeared to St. Catherine Laboure in 1830. After Mass enjoy a full day tour of Paris including visits to the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sainte-Chapelle which was built in 1248 to house Our Lord’s Crown of Thorns and other relics, the famous Opera House and the Arc de Triomphe.
Day 11: Paris
This morning we will visit Montmartre with its magnificent Basilica of Sacre Coeur. After Mass the remainder of the day is free for personal activities. You may wish to spend your time visiting one of the world famous museum such as the Louvre or the Musee d’Orsay, strolling along the fashionable Champs-Elysees, taking a cruise on the Seine, or taking an excursion to visit the beautiful Palace of Versailles. This evening we will enjoy a sumptuous farewell dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 12: Paris / U.S.A.
Following breakfast, we will transfer to Charles De Gaulle Airport for our return flight home.
